"PATAN DA TALAB" OR "POND OF PRINCESS"
Patnitop or Patni Top is a beautiful hill resort situated in the Udhampur District of Jammu and Kashmir on a plateau in the Shivalik belt. The place was originally known as ‘Patan Da Talab’, translated as ‘the pond of the princess’. According to a legend, the pond was used by a princess for her daily baths. The name, however, changed to Patnitop from ‘Patan Da Talab’ over the years.
At a height of 2024 meters and surrounded by dense forests, forms the backdrop of Chenab River flowing nearby. This flourishing hill top boasts of three fresh water springs with ice cold water and having medicinal properties. A thick snow fall in winters is a great tourist attraction.
